Emma Williamson (Chair of Governing Body, SEN and Assessment Link) I have been a governor at Oakdale Junior School since February 2004 and the Chair for 4 years. Both my daughters came through the school and I live close by. I currently work as the Head of Development Management at Haringey Council and am also a lawyer by training. I have extensive experience of serving on committees of NGO’s and I am also a member of a local church. I am committed to all children having the ability to fulfil their potential. Vikash Bhatt (Josh) ( Parent Governor, Vice-chair and Year 6 Link). I was pleased to join the governing body in March 2016. I am also a governor of Oakdale Infant School and have children in both schools. I see my role as being a critical friend to the school, as well as advocating for our children, parents and the staff. I have experience of working within children’s safeguarding, as well as performance management and service improvement within the healthcare sector. Jennifer Berriman (Head teacher Governor) I have been Head teacher at Oakdale Junior School since September 2013 and previously held the position of Deputy Head. I have 15 years of teaching and leadership experience across the primary age group, including time spent as a Local Authority consultant for mathematics. In 2014, I achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship. I have prior experience of Governing Body through roles as a staff governor, local authority governor and observer in three different Redbridge primary schools. Sarah Finn (English Link Governor) I was delighted to be elected as a parent governor in June 2016. With both my children now at Oakdale Juniors, I am looking forward to my new role. I am an experienced primary school teacher and member of SLT at my current school with particular interests in science and maths. I hope to be able to use my educational knowledge and understanding to help support the school and drive it forwards whilst ensuring the voice of parents is heard.
Helen Gillman (Co-opted Governor, Year 3 and 4 Link Governor, Safeguarding Governor) I was co-opted to the Governing Body in July 2013, when the Governing Body was reconstituted. I am married and have two children who are also married. I have 5 grand children. I was born here and have lived in the community all my life, I went to the old Cowslip Road school (which is now Oakdale Infants )and my children went to both the infants and juniors schools so did my brother and sister. My daughter works at the school as a HLTA and my niece is a teacher, I worked at the school as a midday assistant and LSA for 8 years. I hope I can bring a lot of help and support to the school in my role as a Governor and to support our head teacher Jenny Berriman, to bring the school up to a high standard. Sarah Dunmore (Associate Governor) I was delighted to become an Associate Governor from February 2017. I work as Director of Talent and Development for a global Insurance Broker headquartered in London. I hope to bring my experience of working within business and my specific knowledge of Human Resources and Development to support Oakdale Juniors and bring a different perspective to the board of governors.
Nel Adams (Parent Governor, Year 5 Link Governor) I was very pleased to become a parent governor in October 2013 being elected by the parents. I am also on the governing body at the Infants school as a parent governor for a few years where I very much enjoy supporting and challenging the school. Having one child at the Juniors and another at the Infants, I have been pleased to see that we are now working closer together, with my youngest daughter joining the junior school this September. I try to use my experience of working in education to inform how I support and challenge the school but I am very much a parent and try to ensure that parent views are expressed. Laxhmi Solder (Co-opted Governor, Maths Link Governor) My background over the past twenty years has been working in an administrative role within a school environment. I think this has given me a great deal of experience and knowledge about the way in which schools operate on a daily basis. When the Governing Body was re constituted in July 2013, I was co-opted on to the Governing Body In my current role as School Business Manager I am in a position that gives me an overall view of the school’s financial position and it is from this basis that I will try and achieve the best value for Oakdale Junior School. Heather Ward (Co-opted Governor) I have worked in the finance industry for over twenty years and currently work as a Business Manager in asset management. I have also worked for a couple of NGO’s in South East Asia in an accounting/finance role as well as working for an international bank in Asia and London. I live close to the school and I believe that a good school is essential for the children as well as the local community. I therefore look forward to supporting the school in its plans to keep progressing.
Dawn Hallybone (Staff Governor) I am currently in my 13th year of teaching at Oakdale, teaching mainly in Years 5 and 6 (2013). I was first elected as a Staff governor in October 2005. I am now the Deputy Head as well as overseeing the use of Computing and media as well as staff training, initial teacher support and educational visits. As a staff governor I am able to bring my experience of the school and curriculum to meetings as well as working to move the school forward.
