Digital Leaders at Bett 2020
On January 24th, Mrs Dibble took 12 Digital Leaders to BETT, the annual educational technology show at the Excel Centre. Highlights of the day included a Tudor journey wearing the pink headphones of Now Press Play; using VR and AR headsets to explore the moon and watching a Lego robot solve a Rubik's cube!
The following day, accompanied by all the Digital Leaders' parents, we returned to Bett for the family day and the prestigious awards presentation #KidsJudgeBett which the winners consider to be the highest accolade as they are voted for entirely by primary students. Highlights this day included the HP bus, Lego Wars and Microsoft basketball.
Digital Leaders at BETT 19
In January, Mrs Dibble took 13 Digital Leaders to BETT, the annual educational technology show at the Excel Centre. Highlights of the day included meeting Mitch Resnick, the founder of Scratch (the online coding platform) and making personal messenger watches using Micro:bits.
While we were there, Mrs Dibble took a photo of her group with a Transformer and entered a Twitter competition held by Groupcall, who provide the school's communication system. We were delighted to find out this week that our photograph has won £1000 for the school which will be put towards computing equipment.
Rocket Fund Successful
We are pleased to announce that our Rocket Fund project was very successful. We have raised a total of £1,685 towards EdTech equipment which will include the VR headsets and iPods. Included among the 21 generous donors are Mr Thomson and Mr Sircar to whom we are especially grateful. Thank you to all parents and others in the wider Oakdale community who supported us.
